Spencer grew up in the small town of Claresholm, Alberta about an hour south of Calgary. His love for music was fostered in community theatre, and eventually bloomed into an academic career that spanned the continent. Spencer graduated from the University of Victoria in 2022 with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, and the University of Michigan in 2024 with a Master of Music in Voice Performance. He is currently attending the University of Michigan for a Specialist of Music Degree, studying with Stanford Olsen.
Spencer has performed lead roles in productions across North America, including Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Orphée aux Enfers, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Mikado, The Little Shop of Horrors, Willy Wonka, The Wizard of Oz, Tuck Everlasting, and Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea as the emperor Nerone. Spencer also performs concert and oratorio repertoire regularly, and has performed as the tenor soloist in works such as Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, and Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Spencer enjoys performing a number of different genres, and is involved with choirs and vocal groups that perform often.
